Demonstration platform

From raw sensor feed to board-level economics.

100,000 hourly observations from 74 sensor sites on the Scottish strategic road network, January 2023 to December 2025 — modelled, costed and quality-controlled end to end, with the data quality layer left visible.

What the network costs

Annualised, £m per year.

Where the cost sits

Ten highest-cost sites of 74, annualised.

SiteRoadCityCorridor£m / year

When the cost happens

Share of monitored site-hours against share of annual cost, by congestion level.

How it was built

Pipeline

Python generator → dbt warehouse of 33 models across bronze, staging, intermediate and marts → PostgreSQL star schema → Power BI semantic model.

Quality

Twelve explicit rules, each with a stated disposition. 120 automated tests. 95.70% of records pass and enter the analytical layer; the rest are quarantined, imputed or flagged — never silently dropped.

Economics

Valued with DfT TAG time values, DfT RAS4001 casualty values and the DESNZ central non-traded carbon price of £273/tCO₂e.
